Having studied together closely Kate went on to build her business ‘Clear Thoughts Therapy’ and Michaela founded her very own ‘Horse and Soul.’ Soon both Michaela and Kate found themselves working more and more side by side at Conquest in Taunton.  The dynamic duo found that sharing many of the same core values and ethics they were also sharing the same goals and dreams. It didn’t take long for them to realise that by using their common bond to form a solid union they could offer to give so much more. Thus together they became Thoughts and Soul.

Together they aim to combine hopes, passions and dreams with four-legged friends and the amazing outdoors, to offer you a place of self-nourishment, self-discovery and new beginnings!

I have had a love of horses since the age of 3 when I had my 1st riding lesson. I have worked with horses all of my life and I am now lucky enough to have my own who are part of my family.
I started studying an A-level psychology course about 10 years ago and loved it, I then went on to get the relevant qualifications to move my education into university. I was accepted into The University of Exeter where I achieved my BSc in Psychology. It was when I bought my very own first horse after graduating, that I learnt about Equine Facilitated Therapy and was thrilled that I could combine my two passions in life. I completed my Equine Facilitated Therapy training with LEAP and I have completed my first half of my counselling training with Bridgwater College and I currently taking my counselling Diploma and look to graduate in 2017.
I am so lucky to be working with such amazing animals, my job is my passion and my path in life. They are part of my life and my best friends.

My Qualifications consist of ; 2 year A-level in psychology, BSc in Psychology at Exeter University, Qualified Equine Facilitated Therapy Practitioner (LEAP), Level 2 and Level 3 Counselling.

I am 38 years old and qualified as a counsellor in 2010. I previously worked in supporting roles with young homeless people, people living on the streets at the local night shelter, and supporting vulnerable older people.
I volunteered with the Dorset Listening Service before setting up into private practice in Crewkerne. I have since trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy, Nature therapy and Eco Psychology, a Youth Work Qualification, and Reiki Practitioner training.
My passions and skills lie in working with young people, and older people aged over 50. I can work with anxiety, depression, OCD, developing self-esteem and self-awareness, and learning how to manage emotions. I can also work with carers needing support, and people being cared for, which can include managing disability, older age mental health and associated feelings and experiences. I also have experience of working within other age groups including a wide range of issues.
I am deeply respectful of individuality and seek to meet individual needs in my practice, by tailoring a programme of support unique to you and the challenges you wish to explore. Working on an individual basis, honours and values you and your experience. I aim to create a safe space that holds empathy, compassion, acceptance, and honesty, so that you may feel comfortable enough to discover a way forward, which can empower you to facilitate change.
I work using Psychodynamic theory, CBT, whilst holding person centred values and use techniques that include thought process and emotion management, deep relaxation and Mindfulness based CBT, I am also currently studying Level 5 in Counselling with Spirituality.
